Summercamp Romania 2004
Monday morning 04.00 hour in the night we went to Romania. We
are Wouko, Janneke, Johanan, Jefta, Marius, Anneloes, Mariëtte, Marinde and
Anita. At the end of the day we had drove a lot of kilometres and arrived
in middle of Hungary. The second day we arrived late in the evening at
the camp “Pleroma” in Romania. The Romanian youth and there
leaders give us a warm reception. We were exhaust from travelling and
would like to go to sleep. But de Romanian youth thought different, (turn
of the lamps and make fun).
Every day, 07.30 we get up, let me say, we
were trying to do so. At 08.00 we had a moment of silent for our self
and after that we had breakfast. Every day after breakfast we had a bible
study from a Romanian youth leader. The theme was “Think Big, and
we learned a lot of this study. In the evenings, Johanan give us bible
study and it was translated in Romanian language. These were also very
educated. The program between the bibles studies were every time different.
Because of the rain we could not had many games outside. So we stayed
inside and teach the Romanian to play with the Scooby do ropes. Owing
to this the contact between the Dutch and Romanian girls was getting
better. The boys had big fun with each other.
Then the big day arrived. We had to make a journey, on foot, through
the mountains. A group of Dutch and Romanian youth, had to make a heavy
trip, but with a lot of fun. It was good for team building. Sometimes
your shoes got stuck in the mud and you walk further on your socks. But
after a fresh dive in to the river, we felt us much better.
On Sunday
we go to Brasov to the church. We could not understand anything but it
was ok and we were just looking a little bit around us. After church,
every Dutch went to a home of one of the Romanian youth, to eat. In the
afternoon we all go to the centre and later we eat together. Then we
went back to the camp. Back in camp we had a birthday party for Ramona
B and Marius. This evening the Dutch youth would like to go to bed early
because they were tired from fatigue and playing volleyball and other
games. Jefta and some Romanian made a camp fire. The next day, in the
morning, the family Haghel arrived, together with mister Paduret, to
visit the camp. The sons of family Haghel do have an illness of the muscles.
(Dystrophy) The three eldest boys are already in a wheelchair. It is
a great day for the boys to have the opportunity to go the camp in the
mountains. Mister Paduret is a friend of Wouko and today he came to the
camp to relax.
On one of our last days we made another trip in the mountains,
but now with the whole group. We climb up the mountain and we had a great
view. When we go further we came on a territory of a sheep shepherd and
his dogs guard the sheep’s. The dogs where very mean and we were
afraid of the dogs. They were barking en grooming to us. Slowly we go
back until the sheep shepherd came and he told us to go of his property.
We went back but not enough away of his property and already the dogs
came back and they surround us making a lot off noise. The dogs were
very aggressive and it looks like they were attacking us. We stood in
a circle and the dogs were around us. But then the shepherd heard the
dogs and he came to see what’s going on. He was just in time. After
this incident we went back, go of the mountain and so we break off our
trip. What happened was very anxious but we had a great time on the mountain
and we could laugh about all that happened that day and it was one of
the fascinating moments of the camp. Then the last day came. The last
day to be very sweet for the person, you should be an angle for. Because,
this year also, we had an angle action. It mean’s that you should
spoil a persons with out knowing who you are. You should thinking about
little notes on your bed and a bread roll with choc paste, who is giving
around the table for you, during the lunch. We think, Mariëtte had
the best angle. Here angle was Florin, one of the Romanian leaders. See
had many little notes with very interesting text.
On Thursday morning
we had to get up very early. 06.00 we left the camp and for who didn’t
get much sleep last night, they could sleep during the journey back.
Most of us also did this.
Some of us were a little bit carsick. At the
end of the afternoon we arrived in a little village called Galsa. Here
we stopped to stay for the night at a gipsy family. We were spoiled with
good food. The toilet was bad: a wooden barn in a chicken-run. But God
helped us with this. In the evening we worship God and pray for the group.
On Friday the second day in the bus, we had a great time. You could see
we were one group. But it was time to go home. This day it was really
Marius birthday in the evening we celebrate this in the boarding house.
After that we prayed for the whole group. A real good finishing. On Saturday
the journey didn’t
took long. At 14.30 we arrived. We were glad that we were back in Holland
but also longing back to Romania. Who knows we go again soon.
Greetings,
Marinde and Anita
