Journey report of the youthcamp Romania • 14-07-2003 to 26-07-2003
Monday morning at 04.00 o’clock everybody was at Wouko and Janneke
place. Before we left we prayed and then we all stept in to the bus. We
are: Wouko and Janneke Snijder, Johanan de Vos, Marius Wijnja, Jefta van
den Akker, Rogier Eradus, Esther Engberts, Anneloes Nijmijer and Sandra
Eikelboom. In the evening we arrived Abda in Hongarie and Johanan gave
us a bible study. The next morning we had a early breakfast and then we
left. It all got more interesting the further we go, we saw things that
some of us have never seen before, such as a horse and wagon with a licence
plate.
We past the Romanian border as quickly as we could
and in the afternoon we arrived at the camping place for our second night.
In the evening we had again a bible study and we sang some songs.
The next day we had a good trip and at 15.00 hour we arrived our camp,
were we met a super nice group of Romanian youth.
This year the theme of the camp would be: Relation. Every day there we
had different bible studies about relation with God, relation with yourself
and relation with others. The bible studies were instructive and we had
some discussion. Then we separate the Dutch youth from the Romanian youth
and talk about it and later we came together and again we talked about
it. The time for worship that we had together was super. We sang in Dutch,
English en Romanians, all through each other. God is the only one that
count and that was super. We made groups of 2 Dutch people and 2 or 3
Romanian people for the games and the trips that we made. In every group
there was one Romanian who spoke English so that there was someone to
translate. For my self I had a great time but there was a little tension
between the Dutch and the Romanian youth. We’ve prayed and sang
together and later in the evening we asked for forgiveness. The theme
was “relation” and there was only one who will destroy this
and it seems to succeed but our God is much bigger and in Him we are more
than conquerors!! Sunday we got to the church and after that each of us
did go with a Romanian to his or her house to eat and see how they lived.
Nearby the camp there was a little stream and there
we wash our self and wash our cloths but also we wash there the dishes
and in time that you don’t had to do nothing you could play in the
river with each other. It could happen that there was some one who take
a bath and at the same time a little further some one did the dishes.
At the last evening we had a nice campfire and we felt that we don’t
like to go home. Saying good bye was very heavy and we knew that we would
not see each other for a long time. The first day that we left we visit
Nico and Silvia Stroica in Galsa, nearby Arad. Here we had a bible study
about the Ëxodus” of our own life’s. The next day we
had to go to Arad in Hongaria were we finally could take a real shower.
After diner we had a bible study. The last day we had a long trip true
Austria and Germany but we had a great time in the bus and the time flew
away. Saturday 2 August, a week after our journey, we had a reunion with
the Dutch group and we had a nice dinner and watched photo’s and
video of the journey and had a bible study. For my self I can say that
I had a real great time together with my brothers and sisters and God.
Loves and God bless,
Sandra Eikelboom
Our families in Brasov
At this moment there are 18 families who been supported by the foundation.
This is only happening, because we are supported and our contact persons
in Romania, Dimitru Marcu and his daughter and her husband, Esther and
Gabi Vacanza, who do a lot of work in Brasov for the foundation.the families
who we support are all members of a Pentecost church in Brasov. With good
co-operation with this church we can give the right help to the families.
To have regular contact true the phone or by e-mail with our contact persons,
we can react fast in the situation of the supported families. We try to
give the young once in the families a good school education and when it
is necessary we give them financial support. Wouko, the chairman of the
foundation, travels at least 3 times a year to Romania to visit the supported
families.
As you could read in the journey report of Sandra Eikelboom, the summer
camp was a great success and the youth in our church asked us if it is
possible to go again next year to Romania. We will do our best.
Next journey
On October 30 till November 7, Wouko and his wife Janneke will take 3
more couples to Romania. During this trip there will be a shoe action
and their will be about 200 pairs of shoes distribute under the children
of our supported families in Brasov. This is a great action that we never
been able to do. The shoes are made in the shoe factory where many children
after school work to earn money so that they make it a little bit easier
at home. Because we buy the shoes their, we help the people to work. The
church will help us with the shoe action. We like to ask you to pray for
this all.
