Summercamp 2005
Sunday morning august
31, we left with a group of young people to Romania to have a summer
camp in the mountains together with Romanian youth. This time we
drove straight to Galsa just behind the border of Romania. The next day
at two o’clock in the afternoon we came
to the Stoica family in Galsa. During the journey we had a lot
off fun and the time flew by. After a good night rest we left early
in the morning a we took Nicoleta, the oldest daughter of the Stoica
family with us to the camp in the mountains nearby Brasov. Late in
the afternoon we arrived in the camp. Most of the travellers were tired
of the journey but during the first meal some of the Dutch youth
were busy with teasing. The Romanian youth were waiting and see what
more wil be happend. We had some teambuilding games and so the Romanian
and we slowly came together and they appreciated our bad jokes.
This
year Anneloes and Marius had the responsibility to fill up an afternoon
with all kinds of games. With a lot of courage we started with the
games. Especially the living bowling balls was a great success. This
means that you self are the ball. It is hard to explain but Wouko made
some video and you can ask him.
We all had a lot of fun but we also had serious moments. Two times
a day there was a bible study gave by Filip and Anita. For booth
of them it was the first time but it all closed together and
we learned a lot off them. There was also time for worship and every
time we sang the song ‘Cine este regele junglei’ (who’s
the king of the jungle). Every day we grow more and more to each
other and finely we were one real unit.
Also this year we had a theme. ‘Koinonia’ what means community.
And it became more and more reality for us. It was very nice to have
such relation with the Romanian but to say goodbye is than more difficult.
So the most of us decided to stay awake the last evening.
We had a lot of fun because those who went to sleep where surprised
by the jokes of the Romanian youth. They where greased with toothpaste
and hair gel and coloured pencils.
But after a few hours it was reality and we, the Dutch youth
and Nicoleta, had to leave and from both sides we left some tears.
When we came to the Stoica family we had to leave Nicoleta and
here family behind and most of ours needed again a handkerchief.
We
all look back to a great summer camp. Now some of us have
e-mail contact and we look forward to meet our Romanian friends again
some day.
Greetings,
Wouko, Janneke, Marius, Anneloes, Hanna, Vera, Rianne and Anita
Stoica family
Last September, Jan Engberts and Jaap Veldman and Wouko
Snijder went to Galsa to restore the house of Nico and Silvia Soica.
All the materials what was needed, they bought it there and so there
was nothing to declare at the border and it is much more cheaper
to buy the materials in Romania than here in the Netherlands.
Some of the walls of the house
were leaning over and other were crooked and some parts were
very hard and some parts were very weak. This was not easy.
They made central heating and placed new electricity through
the house. A wood stove will be used for the central heating.
Through
the house they made 6 heating plates. They pull also new electric
wires through the walls and in some rooms they placed contact boxes
on the walls. Also on some sealing they hung up a lamp. Because of the
problems through the house it was not possible to isolate the house
but Nico is very good with his hands, so he will try to isolate the
house.
On the way back, they picked up Marianne Buning. She is a young
woman from our church in Hoogeveen and she works in a house for
orphans in the Ukraine. She comes home for a short vacation.
Carwash
action
Last September we had a carwash day to collect some money
to support the foundation.
That day some of the youth of our church wash many cars and
that is a lot of work and we have respect for this. Our compliments. |
