2005
The last journey to Romania was from 14 April till 23 April 2005.
During this journey, many things happened and much was spoken of. This
time we went with 9 men in the age of 25 up to 65. We could use the apartment
of the church in Brasov.
The Sunday that we were there, after church we had a lunch together
with the old people in the church. Many times they are alone and depending
on there self. The young people in the church would like to do something
for the older people who have difficult times. They came on the idea to
give them once in the month a warm meal. During this they can speak with
each other and built relation between the two genaration. The meal is
served in a room under in the church to 70 or 80 people.
We find this a good initiative and our committee made a decision to give
every month financial support for one year. This time the meal consists
of potato with vegetables and meat. After that there was café and
cake. We saw how the young people take care of the older people and how
they love these moments. (you can see the photo’s on the website,
Newsletter February 2005)
With one of our contacts in Brasov, Dimitru Marcu, we do some
shopping to prepare the food parcels and we delivered them in the aftenoon.
Our group was to big and we split the group in 2 small groups and than
we went to the poor families to give them a food parcel and we could
see how they life. To see how some families life was for some of us sometimes
difficult to accept and in the evening we talked about what we’ve
seen and we prayed for the families.
Haghel family
We visit the Haghel family and here all the boys in this
family have muscle illness. 4 Boys can not walk anymore and they sitting
in a wheelchair. When the boys go to school, father Haghel must carry
every son into the bus. When they are at home they are depended of the
father. Every time we visit the family we see how there health is going
down and they know that they will be not older than twenty years. Still
you can see the gratitude for all the foundation did and still doing
for this family.
Lakatush We also visit the family Lakatush. They life in a barn,
earlier it was used for the sheep’s, behind a factory in the outskirts
of Brasov. You can’t walk right up standing. No gas or electricity
or a place to wash your self and no toilet. There is no gas range
to cook and so they use a wood stove. On the wood stove there
is something boiling in a little pan. They can live here and
for compensation the father has to watch over the factory ground
so that no thief or other wanderers walk around the factory.
We support this family with a monthly foodparcel.
Samuël Boroghina With the four year old son Samuël
Boroghina it is reasonable good. The skin that had been burn is slowly
healing and we gave the parents vaseline for the wounds. We found a drugstore
were you can buy vaseline, and so next time we will buy it here in Brasov
Fundatia Clinica Pro Vita
We made a visit at a clinic of Iosif Belea. He is director (theologian,
psychologist) of the Fundatia Clinica Pro Vita. A clinic for
woman in the age of 13 till 50 year who are thinking about an abortion.
They can get a free test to see if they are pregnant. They also
can get counselling and they will be explain what the emotional damage
is when they decide for abortion or to give there child to a house for
orphans. There will show some photos and a video film.
Romania is number one on
the list with the most abortions in Europe in one year. An average
of 1 million abortions in one year in a land of 22 million people. Abortion
is allowed in this country until 6 months of pregnancy. They also spoke
about anti-conception but the older christian people don’t want
to hear about this item. The younger christian people do want
to know.
We had a tour through the clinic and they explained their work in
the clinic and we watched a film about the holocaust in the Second
World War in comparison with abortion. Since a short time they have
a echoscope device and now they look for a doctor who can work here
in the clinic. The clinic and counselling office is really one big
apartment in a flat building where you can find more of these little
agencies.
this apartment is hired by Iosif Belea. At this moment the clinic
receives a little budget from the state. They have a debt to pay
the rent of the apartment and some of us give Iosif generous some
money to pay the rent. He appreciates this very much and he asked
Wouko if it is possible that his foundation can support the work
in the clinic. Wouko told him that he first must talk with the other
members of the foundation in Holland.
Nico and Silvia Stoica
In the last newsletter you could read about Nico. Last year he went to
Spain to work after his harvest was failed and there was no money to
live. The work he did in Spain was only for a short time and he didn’t
know that before, so he tried to go back to his wife and children but
he had no money for the journey. In the mean time he lost 20 kilo’s
of his weight. The foundation made it possible to bring Nico back to
his family. In March Wouko and Piet went to Nico and Silvia to see what
we can do for this family and they made a plan. During the last journey
in April we were on our way home and we visit the family Stoica. Nico
received some money from the foundation to buy vegetables seed and little
fruit trees. So when we came to his place he showed us the vegetables
in his handmade greenhouses and the fruit trees. It was nice to see that
they were crowning good and this summer he will have a good harvest.
He also bought some chicken and they already had little chicken. When
he has enough chickens they can sell the eggs. For his greenhouses he
bought new plastic to replace the damaged parts. For the eldest daughter
the foundation pays here school education and she do it very well on
school.
Summercamp 2005
Also this year there will be a summercamp in Romania. Every year it is
a big success for the youth in the ages of 16/17 years. On our website
