Report of the journey March 17 till March 27
Gabi and Esther (two of our contact persons from Romania) were in March
here in Holland. They stayed here for two weeks while Wouko and Janneke
brought them back home. On the way home they travelled through Germany
and visited the younger sister of Esther. Alinea works in a house of a
German family. After that, they went to Italy to visit three brothers
and the other younger sister of Esther. They live and work there in Italy.
They had not seen each other for a long time and perhaps it was a short
visit but they were very glad to see each other. In Romania it happens
many times that when the children are old enough to work than they go
to work in a foreign country. Here they can earn more and than they can
send some money to their parents at home.
When Wouko and Janneke finally arrived in Romania they did much work in relation building in the Romanian families where are a lot of problems.
At the end of last year there was an action running named ‘Give
them room’ for the family Paduret. You can read about this in the
newsletter of December 2003. We bought a bigger apartment with 4 bedrooms
for this family. The night before they moved Wouko and Janneke visited
the family together with brother Pop from the church in Brasov. When they
finally moved over, Wouko and Janneke helped them with the cleaning. There
were also bought new cupboards because they needed them (see photo). In
the afternoon they lunched together with the family in the new dining
room and the father was very pleased about it.
Wouko and Janneke also visited the family Haghel and it looked good with
the family, in spite of that three of the boys are in a wheelchair at
this moment. Father is very busy to make the house comfortable for the
wheelchairs. The children have a computer and they enjoy this very much.
This year there will be a summer camp in Romania were youth from our church
in Holland and youth from the church in Brasov see each other. Father
Haghel and three of his sons will on august 2 be picked up to visit the
summer camp for one day.
Wouko and Janneke visited Josef Sandor, an important man from the church
in Brasov. Philip Truscai helped with the translation. Mr Sandor would
like to know how we think about some points. They spoke very openly about
cellgroups, caring for each other, teenagers & youth and the coaching
of young people.
In order to prepare the summer youthcamp 2004 there was a meeting with
Esther, Florin and Lilly. They are the leaders of the youth in the church
of Brasov. They decided that Johanan and Florin should make the bible
studies this year.
Summer camp 2004
The youth camp this summer is already full booked. There will be going
seven young people from the Evangelische Gemeenschap Hoogeveen (Holland)
under supervision of Wouko and Janneke. The journey will be from July
26 till August 7. In May of this year we had an action for washing cars,
to diminish the costs of the journey. The result was very positive.
Shoe action
The shoe action is now completely finished and we almost made 300 children
glad with new shoes.
Status of the foundation
From the taxes, our foundation got the status of a ‘Good goal foundation’.
