Newsletter January 2002
Here is a new newsletter, in which we want to tell you
about the work we do in Romania. First you can read the journey report
of Willem Dijkman who went to Romania together with Armando, Rogier and
of course Wouko Snijder.
Journey Report to Romania: 8-11 to 17-11-2001
After a prosperous journey of 2 days we, Wouko, Armando, Rogier and I,
we came to the Marcu family in Brasov, where we hearty received by the
hole family and Gabi and Esther Vansca where also there. During our journey
we visit Nico and Silvia Stroica in Galsa, in the neighbourhood of Arad,
where Wouko give him money to built greenhouses for their horticulture
products. Nico and Silvia where very happy with this money what means
a whole year salary for them. In the Saturday morning. Armando and Rogier,
they went together with our contact person D. Marcu to a big supermarket
that is out of the city, to do some shopping for the food-parcels. Every
month our foundation supports 12 families with a food parcel. After the
food-parcel was composed, we brought them to the families.
We went to many families inside there houses and we saw the poverty where
so many people life in, mostly in too little apartments. Sometimes the
families live with 11 children in a 2 room's apartment and you see that
there are only beds in the living room. With Wouko I stay a little bit
longer at some of the families and than you get the impression how these
people live in sometimes bad situation. At the Haghel family you see that
in spite of the handicap of there sons, who all have muscle dystrophy
and one of theme can not walk anymore and move around with a wheelchair,
they live happy in there new 4 rooms apartment with central heating. Brasov
the city is real sombre with lots of apartment buildings where the balcony
are closed to get more room inside the apartment but from the outside
all the buildings do not look neatly. It feels very good that you know
that the peoples are very religious and they thank God for all they receive.
We people out of the west European world, we can take an example of them.
All this was a big experience and it left on us a big impression and
I recommended other people to go one time with Wouko to Romania. In Romania
you see that there is still real poverty in Europe and that inside a radius
off 2000 kilometres. I am thankful that I have had the opportunity to
go to Romania.
With kind regards,
Willem Dijkman
More families
During the last journey to Romania, Wouko have had a conversation with
the pastor of the church at Brasov. There we decided to support another
six families with a food-parcel.
Totally we now have eighteen families to support. The last families do
not get every month a food-parcel (but every two months) because they
also get a food-parcel from another organisation.
Also the pastor told us that there is a big financial need, because of
the heavy wintertime. Often there is no warm water and no heating for
a few days. The people are having problems to pay the gas and elektra
bills. The believe in God is all they have in there poverty.
Education
Thanks to financial supporting the oldest daughter of the Panoski family,
Adina, can study as a chemic analyzer. She is the people who made this
happen very thankful. She lives together with 10 brothers and sisters
and her parents in a little apartment in Brasov.
Greenhouses
So as we could read in Willem's journey report, Nico Stroica from Galsa
had the opportunity, thanks to the foundation, to built three greenhouses
for his horticulture product. Because of this his little one-mans company
will get a larger harvest this year and in the next. Looking at the picture
we seen Nico with his eighty years old saw machine. He rebuilds this saw
and used an old tractor motor to drive it on. Infact this is a very dangerous.
He is busy to saw wood to sell these in the wintertime. Nico is hardworking
man and a good father for his children.
Youth group
There are plans made, for the summer holidays, to take a youth group to
Romania.
These youth are celgroup leaders from our church. They want together with
the oldest child of the supported family's (+ 12 children) to spend one
week in an old farm out of Brasov. They will live there in a primitive
way. They will have a spiritual relationship when they all play sport
and games together, do some work at the farm, and having bible education
and when they are singing and testifying together.
We want to thank God that we have the opportunity to help people in Romania
and this thanks to your financial help.
May God bless you.
